Gro binds Aes
Aes is a naturally occuring truncated version of Groucho/TLE containing only the Q and GP domains that has been shown to have dominant negative function (Miyasaka et al, 1993; Roose et al, 1998; Ren et al, 1999). Aes is believed to form non-functional oligomers with Groucho/TLE mediated by interactions between the Q domains. In support of this notion, wild-type mouse Aes co-immunoprecipitates with Groucho, but a version of Aes lacking the Q domain does not (Muhr et al, 2001).
