Ehmt1,Ehmt2 trimethylates lysine-16 of Atf7ip
Either Ehmt2 (also called G9a) or Ehmt1 (also called GLP) can trimethylate lysine-16 of Atf7ip (Tsusaka et al. 2018). Lysine-16 of Atf7ip is located in a domain that mimics lysine-9 of histone H3, which is also methylated by Ehmt2 and Ehmt1. Trimethylation of Atf7ip is required for interaction of Atf7ip with Mphosph8 of the HUSH complex (Tsusaka et al. 2018).
