p-S516-Arhgef7 activates Rac1
In rat neurons, Camk1-mediated phosphorylation of Arhgef7 (Beta-Pix) at serine S516 enhances guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) activity of Arhgef7, leading to Rac1 activation. Rac1 and its downstream effector Pak1 are involved in NMDA receptor activity-dependent synaptogenesis (Saneyoshi et al. 2013).
