NS5 from DENV-2 (strain U87411) is phosphorylated at Thr-449 (Thr-2940 of the polyprotein) in transfected human HEK293T cells; this specific threonine residue in bacterially-expressed recombinant NS5 is also a target for in vitro phosphorylation by activated bovine protein kinase G (Bhattacharya et al., 2009). We inferred the reaction catalyzed by human PKG from the bovine PKG activity.
