DNTTIP1 (TdIF1) forms a complex with histone demethylase KDM1A (LSD1) at the CDH1 (E cadherin) gene promoter and DNTTIP1 and KDM1A cooperatively repress CDH1 gene transcription. The cooperative repression of CDH1 transcription was assessed by an increase in CDH1 mRNA and protein levels when lung cancer cell lines H1299 and H1975 were treated with anti DNTTIP1 siRNA and KDM1A inhibitor sp2509 (Liu et al. 2021). High expression of DNTTIP1 is a marker of poor prognosis in clear cell renal carcinoma and correlates with low CDH1 expression levels (Wang et al. 2023).
