TALDO1 encodes transaldolase, an enzyme in the non-oxidative branch of the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), which contributes to the metabolic and redox balance of a cell (reviewed in Ge et al, 2020; Smolkova et al, 2020). TALDO1 gene expression is regulated in part by the KEAP1-NFE2L2 pathway (Thimmulappa et al, 2002; Wu et al, 2011; Mitsuishi et al, 2012; reviewed in Baird and Yamamoto, 2020).
