GLP-1R that has bound GLP-1 activates the alpha subunit of the heterotrimeric G-protein G(s) by protein-protein interaction between intracellular loop 3 of GLP-1R and G(s). The activation causes exchange of GDP for GTP by the alpha subunit of G(s).
