Spermidine synthase (SRM) carries out the final step of spermidine biosynthesis, transferring an aminopropyl group from decarboxylated S-adenosylmethionine (dc-AdoMet) to putrescine to form spermidine (SPM) (Myohanen et al. 1991; Wu et al. 2007).
