text After phosphorylation of Clock by the kinase Csnk1d, the Bmal1:Clock heterodimer dissociates from DNA (Ye et al. 2014, Chiou et al. 2016, Cao et al. 2021). Cry and Per proteins form a complex with Csnk1d, shuttle Csnk1d into the nucleus, and bring Csnk1d into proximity with Clock (Cao et al. 2021). Notably, after Bmal1:Clock dissociates from promoters, some promoters are negatively regulated and some promoters, such as the Cry1 promoter, are positively regulated by residual Per proteins (Chiou et al. 2016).
