text SIGLECs are sialic acid-recognizing receptors of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily expressed on immune cells. SEGLEC14 and SEGLEC15 preferentially recognise ligands containing the glycans N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac). SEGLEC14, SEGLEC15 and SEGLEC16 are expressed by myeloid cells and associate with the activating adapter protein DAP12 via the arginine residue in their transmembrane domains (Angata et al. 2006, Angata et al. 2007, Cao et al. 2008).
