text Cytosolic kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO) catalyzes the reaction of L-kynurenine, NADPH + H+, and O2 to form 3-hydroxy-L-kynurenine, NADP+, and H2O (Breton et al. 2000). The localization of KMO to the outer mitochondrial membrane is inferred from studies of the enzyme in rat liver mitochondria (Okamoto et al. 1967).
