Phosphoinositol 3-kinase (Pik3ca,b,d:Pik3r2, abbreviated as Pi3k) binds phosphorylated Kdr (Vegfr2) through an interaction between Pik3r2 (p85) of Pi3k and phosphorylated tyrosine-801 and tyrosine-1175 residues of Kdr (Dayanir et al. 2001, Tzima et al. 2005). Both Flt4 (Vegfr3) and Kdr bind Cdh5 (VE-cadherin) and are located in the same mechanosensory complex (inferred from human homologs). Flt4 plays an overlapping role with Kdr in activating PI3K by phosphorylation in response to shear stress (inferred from human homologs).
