Expression of Pax6 in anterior neural plate
During gastrulation at embryonic day 7.5, Pax6 is strongly expressed in the anterior neural plate and more weakly expressed in the posterior neural plate (Iwafuchi-Doi et al. 2012). During differentiation of embryonic stem cells to neural tissue, Pax6 is directly activated by Pou3f1 (Zhu et al. 2014) and Znf521 (Zfp521) (Kamiya et al. 2011).
