Expression of Six2 in metanephric mesenchyme
Sine oculis homolog 2 (Six2) is expressed in metanephric mesenchyme during formation of the metanephros, the adult kidney (Wellik et al. 2002, Xu et al. 2003, Self et al. 2006, Gong et al. 2007). Six2 appears to maintain metanephric mesenchyme in a less differentiated, more proliferative state (Self et al. 2006, Kobayashi et al. 2008, Park et al. 2012).
