Expression of Epha4 in presomitic mesoderm
Epha4 is expressed in the rostral halves of somites (Nieto et al. 1992, Nomura-Kitabayashi et al. 2002) where it appears to play a role in the determination of somite boundaries through interaction with an Ephrin on an adjacent cell (inferred from zebrafish embryos in Durbin et al. 1998, Barrios et al. 2003 and from chicken embryos in Glazier et al. 2008). Expression of Epha4 is directly activated by Mesp2, which shows the same expression pattern (Nakajima et al. 2006).
