Lef1 or Tcf7 (tcf1) and Ctnnb1 bind the Tbxt (T, Brachyury) gene
In the mouse embryo Tbxt (T, Brachyury) expression in the primitive streak is induced by Wnt3 and Wnt3a acting via Lef1, Tcf7 (Tcf1), and beta-catenin (Ctnnb1) (Liu et al. 1999, Yamaguchi et al. 1999). Lef1 binds two sites in the Tbxt (T, Brachyury) promoter and mediates binding of Ctnnb1 to activate Tbxt expression (Yamaguchi et al. 1999, Arnold et al. 2000, Morkel et al. 2003). Tcf7 (Tcf1) can also perform the same function as Lef1 (Yamaguchi et al. 1999).
