Csf1r trans-autophosphorylates on multiple tyrosine residues
After Csf1r binds Csf1 and dimerizes, the Csf1r subunits of the dimer phosphorylate each other (transautophosphorylate) on 8 tyrosine residues (van der Geer et al. 1990, van der Geer and Hunter 1991, Baccarini et al. 1991, van der Geer and Hunter 1993, Myles et al. 1994, Wilhelmsen et al. 2002, Rohde et al. 2004, Takeshita et al. 2007, Wei et al. 2010, Sampaio et al. 2011). Tyrosine-599 in the juxtamembrane is phosphorylated first, relieving repression of kinase activity by tyrosine-599 (Yu et al. 2008, Xiong et al. 2011). Serine residues are also observed to be phosphorylated (Baccarini et al. 1991).
