In mouse neurons treated with a differentiation medium Npas4 directly stimulates Cdk5 gene expression (Yun et al. 2013). In primary cultures of rat neurons, Cdk5 gene expression was not significantly changed upon Npas4 activation (Brigidi et al. 2019).
