Traf3ip1 binds Ift20
Mouse Ift20 was identified as a Danio rerio Traf3ip1-binding partner by two hybrid analysis (Omori et al, 2008). Consistent with this, mouse IFT20 has been shown to bind to the C-terminal region of mouse Traf3ip3, and residues 570-625 of Traf3ip1 are sufficient both to IP Ift20 and to disrupt the Golgi localization of Ift20 (Follit et al, 2009). Traf3ip1 is postulated to bridge the 'Golgi complex' and 'IFT B' roles of Ift20, promoting vesicular traffic to the site of cilium assembly (Follit et al, 2008; Follit et al, 2009; reviewed in Ishikawa and Marshall, 2011).
