Pias1 Sumoylates Nr2c1 (Tr2)

Pias1 Sumoylates Nr2c1 (Tr2) with Sumo1 at lysine-238 (Park et al. 2007, Gupta et al. 2008). Unsumoylated Nr2c1 is localized to PML bodies in the nucleus and coactivates Oct4-activated transcription at promoters. Sumoylation causes Nr2c1 to be released from PML bodies and to act as a corepressor.
