NKD2 expression is upregulated in CHD8 knockdown HCT116 cells, consistent for a role of CHD8:CTNNB1 in the negative regulation of this WNT target gene (Thompson et al, 2008; Sakamoto et al, 2000; Kobayashi et al, 2002). Based on similarity to proteins in Drosophila, NKD2 is thought to be a cell autonomous negative regulator of canonical WNT signaling (Yan et al, 2001; Wharton et al, 2001).
