CHD6 negatively modulates the replication of negative strand viral RNA into positive strand complementary RNA (cRNA) (Huarte et al, 2001; Alfonso et al, 2011; Alfonso et al, 2013). The exact mechanism by which CHD6 has this effect is not clear however there are numerous links between the activity of viral polymerases and the host chromatin environment (reviewed in Du et al, 2023; Eisfeld et al, 2015).
