Expression of MIR21 is repressed by STAT3 binding to its promoter. STAT2-dependent repression of miR-21 in turn leads to upregulation of DNMT1, a miR-21 target. Downstream of NPM1-ALK, DNMT1 contributes to repression of IL2RG gene expression by methylating the IL2RG promoter (Zhang et al, 2011).
