MCL1 is a pro-survival member of the BCL2 family. MCL1 is upregulated in ALCL ALK+ lines in a manner that depends on active TYK2 protein (Prutsch et al, 2019). Stimulation of MCL1 expression may depend on phosphorylated STAT1 or STAT3, but direct binding of the STAT proteins to the MCL1 promoter has not been demonstrated in this context (Prutsch et al, 2019; Epling-Burnette et al, 2001). MCL1 expression contributes to the survival of ALCL cells (Prutsch et al, 2019; Rassidakis et al, 2002).
