TFAP2A binds the promoter of the PAX3 gene and activates its expression in the neural plate border (inferred from Xenopus homologs in De Croze et al. 2011). TFAP2A subsequently regulates gene expression during specification of the neural crest (inferred from Xenopus homologs in De Croze et al. 2011).
