Membrane-bound glycoprotein G is estimated to contain O-linked carbohydrates that account for approximately 55% of its mature weight. Manual assertion according to computational sequence analysis performed by UniProt shows >20 potentially O-glycosylated serine and threonine residues (Lambert, 1988; Wertz et al, 1989; Collins, 1990; Palomo et al, 1991; Collins & Mottet, 1992).
