Based on a study using recombinant mouse Npas4 overexpressed in human embryonic kidney cell line HEK293T, NPAS4 binds strongly to three enhancer elements in the NPAS4 gene locus and weakly to the NPAS4 gene promoter. The complex of recombinant mouse Npas4 and Arnt2 was able to significantly induce transcription from a human NPAS4 gene reporter construct (Bersten et al. 2014).High-throughput ChIP-seq of primary mouse neurons showed NPAS4 binds to the NPAS4 gene locus (Kim et al. 2010). The heterodimer of NPAS4 and ARNT2 is annotated as a set member and heterodimers of NPAS4 with ARNT and ARNTL are annotated as set candidates for binding to the NPAS4 gene locus.
