The STAT proteins STAT1 (Tian et al. 1994), STAT3 (Tian et al. 1994, Tian et al. 1996, Ward et al. 1999, Marino and Roguin 2008), and STAT5 (STAT5A and STAT5B) (Tian et al. 1996) bind phosphotyrosines of the cytosolic domain of CSF3R. The membrane-proximal region of the cytosolic domain of CSF3R is sufficient to activate STAT1 and STAT5. Activation of STAT3 by low concentrations of CSF3 (G-CSF) requires a membrane-distal region of CSF3R (Ward et al. 1999).
