General
Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors containing alpha6-beta3 subunits may form receptors with either alpha6 beta3 beta4 subunits or with alpha4 alpha6 beta3 beta2 subunits. These receptors containing the alpha6 and beta 3 subunits along with subtypes containing alpha4and beta 2 are found in mesotriatal and visual pathways in the presynaptic terminals and are involved in the release of dopamine from these terminals.
