| text | OqxA is a transport protein of the Resistance-Nodulation-Cell Division (RND) superfamily which localizes to the plasma membrane. Members of the RND superfamily all probably catalyze substrate efflux via an H+ antiport mechanism, utilizing the proton-motive force (reviewed in Nikaido, 2018). The oqxA gene has been found on plasmids of fluoroquinolone-resistant E.coli, and the protein exports a wide variety of antimicrobials (Hansen et al., 2004; Hansen et al., 2007; reviewed in Ruiz et al., 2012; Shariati et al., 2022). |
