schemaClass Summation
text Fas Activated Serine-Threonine Kinase Domains 2 (FASTKD2) binds 16S rRNA (Antonicka and Shoubridge 2015, Popow et al. 2015) and the coding region of the MT-ND6 mRNA, which encodes a subunit of NADH dehydrogenase (Popow et al. 2015). Deletion of FASTKD2 causes aberrant processing and reduced expression of 16S rRNA and MT-ND6 mRNA (Popow et al. 2015). FASTKD2 interacts with RNA granule proteins, ribosomal proteins, MTERFD1, TRUB2, WBSCR16, and NGRN (Antonicka et al. 2017). Mutations in FASTKD2 are associated with deficiencies in oxidative phosphorylation complexes and impaired mitochondrial function (Wei et al. 2020).
