text The LEUTX gene is transcribed to yield mRNA which is translated to yield protein. LEUTX mRNA is present in 4-cell stage embryos (Tohonen et al. 2015, Hendrickson et al. 2017) and decreases in the morula (Hendrickson et al. 2017). DUX4 directly activates expression of LEUTX, a paired-like homeobox transcription factor (Hendrickson et al. 2017, Vuoristo et al. 2022).
