text The Hoxa2 gene is transcribed to yield mRNA (Tan et al. 1992, Maconochie et al. 2001, Tumpel et al. 2007, Lampe et al. 2008, Tumpel et al. 2008). Hoxa2 mRNA is observed in rhombomere 2 and caudally through posterior hindbrain, spinal cord, larynx, lungs, vertebrae, sternum, and intestine (Tan et al. 1992). Hoxa2 mRNA is a target of the microRNA miR-3960 during osteoblast differentiation (Hu et al. 2011).
