Rora,c and coactivators bind the Clock gene
Either Rora or Rorc bind a single ROR response element (RRE, RORE) in the promoter of the Clock gene (Takeda et al. 2012). Upon binding RREs, Rora is coactivated by Ep300 and Ppargc1a (Pgc-1alpha) to enhance transcription (Lau et al. 2004). The Bmal1:Clock heterodimer directly activates transcription of Rora and Rorc, resulting in a circadian loop of expression.
