Phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) can act as a protein serine/threonine kinase that, under normoxia conditions, phosphorylates AKT1S1 (PRAS40) on threonine residue T246, which suppresses autophagy-mediated cell death and promotes cellular proliferation (Zhang et al. 2022).
