CDH1 (del Valle et al. 2013: recombinant CDH1 of unspecified species origin, likely mouse, ectopically expressed in mouse embryonic stem cells - mESCs; Liu et al. 2021: recombinant CDH1 of unspecified species origin, likely mouse, ectopically expressed in mouse embryonic fibroblasts - MEFs) and CDH11 (Adan et al. 2022: mouse fibroblast cell line Balb/c3T3 and endogenous mouse proteins were used) stabilize IL6ST (also known as gp130) protein levels. The exact mechanism has not been elucidated. shRNA-mediated knockdown of CDH11 leads to downregulation of IL6ST (Adan et al. 2022). Ectopic overexpression of CDH1 in MEFs leads to rapid stabilization of IL6ST by preventing internalization and degradation of IL6ST (Liu et al. 2021) and the mechanism likely involves interaction of the extracellular domain of CDH1 with the IL6ST receptor complex (del Valle et al. 2013).
