Vimentin interacts with the N-terminal cytosolic portion of the NS4A protein from DENV-2 (NGC strain) in replication complexes (RCs) in the endoplasmic reticulum of human Huh-7 cells (Teo & Chu, 2014; reviewed in Ramos et al., 2020). DENV-2 infection is associated with vimentin reorganization and its phosphorylation by calcium calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII); this reorganization is important for maintaining and supporting the DENV RCs (Teo & Chu, 2014).
