Carbohydrate sulfotransferase 10 (CHST10, HNK-1) transfers sulfate from 3'-phosphoadenylyl sulfate (PAPS) to position 3 of the terminal glucuronic acid (GlcA) moiety of growing matriglycan chains on alpha-dystroglycan. This modfication prevents further polymerization by LARGE glycosyltransferases (Sheikh et al., 2020; reviewed in Katz & Diskin).
