Nuclear DENV C (capsid) protein binds histones H2A, H2B, H3, H4 of liver cells during DENV infection, binding DNA and disrupting nucleosome formation. This result was obtained from experiments with the Dengue serotype-2 (DENV-2) NG-C strain (Colpitts et al., 2011).
