Dengue virus NS1 protein binds to prothrombin (Factor II, F2) and inhibits its activation, which may contribute to hemorrhage in Dengue fever patients. This result was obtained from experiments with the Dengue serotype-2 (DENV-2) PL046 strain (Lin et al., 2012).
