DENV NS1 protein interacts with Beclin-1 complex, attenuating Beclin-1 cleavage and facilitating autophagy to prevent early cell apoptosis. This result was obtained from experiments with the Dengue serotype-2 (DENV-2) PL046 strain (Lu et al., 2020). The authors suggest that this interaction may occur with the membrane-associated NS1 homodimer within the viral replication complex.
