Calpain2 (m-Calpain, CAPN2:CAPNS:Ca2+) activated by cytosolic calcium in response to laminar flow shear stress (Miyazaki et al. 2007) or turbulent flow shear stress (Miyazaki et al. 2010) cleaves the cytoskeletal protein Vinculin (VCL) at an unknown site to produce a 95 kDa fragment.
