TRIM28 binds CHD3 (Mi-2alpha), a subunit of the NuRD repressor complex, therefore TRIM28 is inferred to associate with the NuRD complex (Ivanov et al. 2007 and inferred from bovine TRIM28 binding human CHD3). The NuRD complex contains histone deacetylases and histone deacetylase activity is required for full repression by the KRAB-ZFP:TRIM28 complex (Schultz et al. 2001).
