The complex between ADP-ribosylation factor-like protein 2-binding protein (ARL2BP aka BART) and GTP-bound ADP-ribosylation factor-like protein 2 (ARL2:GTP) is able to bind the ADP/ATP translocase 1 protein (SLC25A4 aka ANT1) at the mitochondrial inner membrane (Zhang et al. 2009, Bailey et al. 2009). ARL2 is essential for a number of mitochondrial functions, including mitochondrial morphology, motility and maintenance of ATP levels.
