Yorkie (YKI) binds to the DNA-binding transcription factor, Homothorax (HTH). HTH in conjunction with the DNA-binding transcription factor, Teashirt (TSH) regulate the YKI target gene for the microRNA bantam (ban). HTH and YKI are both bound to the same region of the bantam locus in eye discs. This suggests that YKI, HTH, and TSH form a DNA-binding complex which activates transcription for the bantam target gene.
