The cDNA coding for the p40 polypepide chain of porcine IL-12 (porcine Interlekuin-12 subunit A) was cloned using sets of primers derived from the bovine sequence recognizing the porcine sequence. For these experiments we used the porcine IL-12 p40 subunit which shares 80% identity and 88% similarity with the human form (BLASTP Alignment program). Porcine p40 contains cysteine residues at nine out of the 10 positions found in the human form.
