Chrna9:Chrna10 binds acetylcholine (AcCho)
Chrna9:Chrna10, an unusual nicotinic acetylcholine receptor that is blocked (rather than activated) by nicotine, binds acetylcholine that is secreted by efferent neurons of the olivocochlear complex that form synapses with the basal plasma membrane of outer hair cells (OHCs) (Elgoyhen et al. 1994, Verbitsky et al. 2000, Elgoyhen et al. 2001, Weisstaub et al. 2002, Gomez-Casati et al. 2005).
