Mecp2 binds to Grin2b gene promoter
Rat Mecp2 binds to methylated Grin2b (Nr2b) gene promoter, encoding glutamate (NMDA) receptor subunit epsilon-2. Methylation of the Grin2b promoter and the subsequent Mecp2 binding is promoted by increased neuronal activity and suppressed by low neuronal activity (Lee et al. 2008).
