In the rat cytosol, a yet to be identified enzyme with methylselenol demethylase (Msdm) activity is involved in the hydrolysis of methylselenol aka methaneselenol (MeSeH) into hydrogen selenide (H2Se) and methanol (Suzuki et al. 2007, Ohta and Suzuki 2008).
