Gamma-secretase cleaves Cntn1:Notch2 to release NICD2
When the rat oligodendrocyte cell line OLN-93, which expresses endogenous Notch1 and Notch2, is incubated with Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells exogenously expressing recombinant mouse Cntn1, Notch2 intracellular domain (NICD2) is released. The activity of the gamma-secretase complex is required for the NICD2 release upon Notch2 activation by Cntn1, but the role of Adam10 metalloprotease has not been studied (Hu et al. 2003).
